Claire & Syahmi's Perth Wedding | Nikkah at Swan Valley Mosque + Reception at Cleaver Street
Some weddings stay with you long after the gallery is delivered, and Claire and Syahmi's is one of them. From their Nikkah at Swan Valley Mosque and Islamic Centre to an intimate 40-guest reception at Cleaver Street, this Perth wedding was full of colour, warmth and personal touches — and we're so proud to have been the ones behind the lens.
We're also thrilled this day was recently featured in Hello May — read the full feature there, and scroll on below for our take on the day, along with a few of our favourite frames.
A Nikkah at Swan Valley Mosque
The day began with a traditional Nikkah ceremony at Swan Valley Mosque and Islamic Centre, blending cultural tradition with the couple's own personal style. It set a beautifully grounded, meaningful tone for everything that followed.
Portraits around Leederville
Between the ceremony and reception, we took Claire and Syahmi through the streets of Leederville for portraits — relaxed, editorial and full of genuine moments between the two of them. Honestly, some of our favourite portraits we've shot all year.
An intimate reception at Cleaver Street
For their reception, Claire and Syahmi chose Cleaver Street — a warehouse-style venue in Perth with an effortlessly chic, industrial-meets-natural feel. With only 40 guests, they opted for one long dinner table rather than multiple round tables, which suited the space (and the vibe) perfectly.
The styling leaned into a bright, happy palette — abundant fresh blooms from MAGAYON, table styling from Pinspired, and a backdrop from The Tailored Table that tied the whole room together. Guests were even asked to wear bright colours and floral prints, which made the room feel even more alive in photos.
The little details
DIY touches were everywhere — hand-crafted stationery, custom trading-card-style favours for the boys, vanity kits for the girls, and even DIY bubble tea holders for their Chat Time bubble tea station. It's these personal, unexpected details that always make for the best photos.
The cake from Kate Batter was a showstopper on the table (and reportedly on the tastebuds too), and catering from Le Marrakech Restaurant rounded out a reception that felt as good as it looked.
The bridal look
Claire's ceremony dress was sourced from Malaysia, paired with a hijab styled specifically for the day. For the reception, she changed into an off-the-shoulder gown from Bec + Bridge — a lighter, spring/summer silhouette that matched the bright florals beautifully.
Why we love weddings like this one
As their photographer, we always tell couples: you'll spend more time with us on the day than almost anyone else, so it matters that it feels easy. Claire and Syahmi trusted us to capture their day exactly as it unfolded, and the result is a gallery full of genuine, unposed joy.
